GET YOUR ACTIVE ON
With the New Year coming up, it will be no surprise to start seeing our social network feeds flooded with work out plans, ‘New Year, New You’ captions, and all kinds of recommendations on how to get the Holiday fluff off. I’ll probably share some of my cardio and strength training tips at some point but for now I’m going to keep this simple.
IF YOU LOOK GOOD, YOU FEEL GOOD. IF YOU FEEL GOOD YOU WORK GOOD.
Yep, that’s all there is to it for today, and I’m not going to try and over complicate this. There are plenty of days when I don’t feel like going on the run, or I don’t feel up for working out, but I tell you what… Slap me on a fresh NEW pair of leggings, a cute sports bra, and some new clean kicks, and I bet I find some motivation or the discipline to make it happen.
With all that being said I’ve taken some time to link up a few of my recent favorites. I generally go for comfort and breathe ability (I sweat like a man : ).
Who doesn’t love a good pair of joggers that you can lounge in, run errands in, workout in, or just play with the dog in. These Lululemon joggers have been such a go to for the past year that I just got another black pair and a camo pair just in case. They are definitely a bit of a “splurge” for me, but when it comes to the comfort and overall fit of these buttery soft, may as well wear nothing pant, it’s worth every penny. I’ve tried the imitators, and they’re just not the same. And the tops? Well, they should look very familiar around here. These basic Target tanks have been with me for the last couple of years and I just can’t shake them. Great for working out, dressing up/down, layering, and all the things, I’ve got it in every color they come out with. lol
Shorts are where it’s at when it comes to my running or any kind of cardio in my opinion. Now I’m usually pretty partial to the Lululemon short HOWEVER, these Adidas shorts I scored from Academy feel like you’re wearing air. With a built in liner, these bad boys will have you flying in no time. And as for the top… Again, not a fan of long sleeves but this basic crew neck from Walmart has become a staple in my wardrobe. It’s versatility and light weight nature make it easy to throw on during the week under my scrubs or throw over a sports bra for a cooler run.
The Lululemon Invigorate leggings quickly became a favorite of mine for many reasons. The main reason being the breathability (I may have made that word up) of them. Living in Houston with humidity times 100 most days, this is a must. They hold all the things in and don’t slip during cardio., another bonus in my book for sure. As for the top, I’m not a fan of wearing long sleeves when working out or running however, when it’s necessary this crew neck basic from Target is soft, comfy, and does the warmth trick.
Last but certainly not least, a new pair of running shoes ALWAYS DOES THE trick for me. I originally got a different pair for Christmas but exchanged them for these beauts and it was worth the wait. An Adidas Amazon find at a reasonable price. Reasonable price is debatable I understand. However, finding yourself a good pair of running shoes or work out kicks is a MUST. And since the goal is to be consistent with your goals it’ll be worth it when you start wearing them on the daily.
As the New Year approaches and we start creating goals, resolutions, and placing pressure on ourselves to become better versions of ourselves, I hope you remember to give yourself to some Grace during the process. To remember that where motivation is sometimes needed in the form of rad outfits, new running shoes, and thoughtful quotes, it’s the DISCIPLINE you teach yourself and develop that will help you succeed in truly fulfilling your years goals.
