BloGger On A Budget
Alright, well.. there is a lot of uncertainty around the world currently. And my life is no exception. If you’re new here HI, I’m Sam! I’m a dental assistant and recently my office was forced to shut down due to the COVID-19 virus.
Over the last couple of weeks Kyle and I, along with a lot of people, have had to re arrange the budget. I no longer am bringing home a consistent bi-weekly paycheck, in fact I actually just had to file for unemployment… Side note, let me just say this. Filing for unemployment, having AN ‘INBOX’ with the Texas WorkForce Commission, having to actively NOT WORK, it’s absolutely the worst feeling. Again, I know I AM NOT ALONE, and I am a lot better off then some. This is just my moments reality. Anyway, mild pity party over. This is where I’m at. A lot of things have had to change, and a lot of it is out of my control. However, a lot of it has put me back in my place and forced me to take a hard look at what I spend money on and what truly defines the word “need”.
I am no exception to someone who enjoys nice things, new things. It usually, for me comes in the form of athletic wear, I do love me a good pair of leggings or running shoes. And as much as I love, admire, and look up to so many of the girls I follow on social media, it is just NOT REALISTIC FOR ME and my family to spend money on clothing, beauty products at this time. I’ve never been someone to spend a lot of money on these things individually, however I do enjoy a good variety of affordable things. This being said, I can no longer go on intense amazon binges, hit up Old Navy on my way home, or scour the LuLu Lemon clearance rack on the reg.
We’re ballin’
on a budget,
now more than ever folks and I can’t say I hate it. I can appreciate SO MUCH the small business aspect of social media pushing products and sales during this time, it’s just going to take A LOT MORE these days to get me to justify the “need” for certain items. Perhaps it will shift my focus back to what I’ve always known to be something I very much believe, “there is no much more value in an experience, then a product” for me. While I still keep an eye out for a good bargain like these FREAKING STEAL of a biker short my mom found at Sams Club, I hope to regain the value of experiences with our tribe. Keep scrolling, adjust where you need to, but maybe let us try and use this unique time we have to REASSESS what we really ‘need’. I know right about now I could really use a new experience!!!!
